N'Golo Kanté

N'Golo Kanté, born on March 29, 1991, is a highly regarded French professional footballer who currently serves as a defensive midfielder for the Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad and the France national team. Renowned for his exceptional work rate and defensive abilities, he is widely considered as one of the finest midfielders of his generation. Kanté's relentless determination and defensive acumen have earned. 

On 16 May 2024, Kanté made his return to the France squad after he was selected by Deschamps for UEFA Euro 2024.  On 17 June, he was awarded player of the match in the opening encounter against Austria, which ended in a 1–0 victory; Four days later, he achieved back-to-back player of the match honors in a goalless draw against the Netherlands.  Following the round of 16 victory over Belgium, he became the player with most matches without defeat in the European competition in 12 games, breaking previous record of Xavi.  After the quarter-final win over Portugal on penalties, he became the first player to reach 20 consecutive undefeated matches in major tournaments, breaking the previous record held by Xavi.

French national men's football team

In terms of the national team, Kanté helped the French national men's football team secure the runner-up position in the 2016 UEFA European Championship. Kanté made his senior international debut for France in 2016. In 2017 Kanté was named the French Player of the Year, a first for a player from the Premier League in seven years. 12 months later he was a key member of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winning squad. Kanté was a key part of the team which won the 2018 World Cup but he last played a competitive game for France in the Nations League in June 2022. A hamstring injury meant he missed the World Cup in Qatar that year, when France was runner-up to Argentina.

Chelsea Football Club

In the summer of 2016, Kanté transferred to Chelsea Football Club. THE BIGGER PICTURE: Kante signed for Chelsea in July 2016 for £30 million after helping Leicester City to the Premier League title the season prior. In the 2016-17 season, he swept the three major individual awards in the Premier League and helped Chelsea win the Premier League title. Additionally, in the 2020-21 season, Kanté played a crucial role in helping Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad

He plays as a defensive midfielder for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad. On 21 June 2023, Kante agreed to sign for Saudi Professional League club Al-Ittihad on 1 July upon the expiration of his Chelsea contract. In 2023, Saudi officials had travelled to London for talks with Kante. It is understood that Kante will earn a whopping €200m over two years at Al-Ittihad. There was surprise when the Al Ittihad midfielder was recalled for Euro 2024 but, already, he has demonstrated what he still offers France.
